Aisha F2024-12-30Verified Best holiday The place is so beautiful with the most beautiful gardens ever. There was a a foot path all around the property that one can take a leisure walk. The pool is big and amazing plus they have a jacuzzi. The rooms are spacious we stayed in the main villa for the seven days that we were there. John the chef is the best and made us great food always. We did not mind that the Villa not being in beach front as it is only a few minutes from the beach. The management needs to improve on the level of cleanliness, it was wanting. We went at a time when the jacuzzi was also not working and we thought we would get to enjoy that but we didn’t. All in all I would visit the place again. Alex Joshua2023-06-08Verified Will always be part of my core memory Home away from home, this is it. From the food, to the garden, along with the tall palm trees. I need to go back ! It is a nice getaway where you can enjoy reading and meditation. It is not far from the beach and they can provide Safari options too Esther G2023-03-18Verified Excelente !!! We got the best room with a huge balcony and a amazing view to the wonderful garden. Everybody tried everything to fulfill our wishes. Especially John. He is a great chef and he even organized a lovely Candlelight diner for my wife and me. If you want a peaceful vacation, than come here. The beach isn't so far, and you can use a Tuktuk to go there easily. Thank you Neema for a great time. Next year we will come back for sure. David R2020-05-31Verified Covid 19 Lockdown I have had occassion to stay at Sunset Villa before, but this experience was intense. A couple of days after arriving, the Kenyan government introduced lockdowns in various counties, including Kwale, which includes Diani Beach in its borders. I was the only guest, everyone else managed to get a flight back to their homelands; mine being Canada, it was not as easy as the Europeans. I stayed for 2 months at Sunset Villa and with the exception of access to medical services, it was awesome. Fortunately, i was not sick, so my experience was truly amazing. The owner, Danny, who is from Belgium, was also on site. The staff were so accommodating, I truly felt like I was in a paradise. Swimming every day at least twice, enjoying awesome meals prepared by the Kenyan chef, John. In addition, Danny moved me into a unit that had a full kitchen, so I could have the option of preparing my own meals as well as having food catered. A staff member would go shopping whenever I needed something, it was so perfect. Finally, after a couple of months, I got a flight back home, and it was not easy to leave. norman b2020-02-05Verified Excellent food and service at the Sunset Villa. We stayed at the Sunset Villa for 5 nights before going on safarai to Tsavo East and West. The room was spacious and was in the main house. The gardens are lovely and the there is a swimming pool and jaccuzzi. Breakfast was good and the walk to the beach took around 10 minutes. We ate out a couple of nights but I recommend that you have your evening meal at least two or three times at the Sunset Villa itself. The chef is a lovely man, we had steak one night and asked on another night if he would cook us a whole fish each. The fish was excellent and cost far less than a restaurant would have charged. Be prepared for the noisy frogs and insects that seem to start their chorus all at once at nightfall. The beach is excellent, we hired sunbeds at the Lantana for 300 ksh a day. You can use the pool there and the sunbeds overlook the beautiful beach. Two minor issues , the bed was very hard you had to run around in th shower to get wet, the water pressure was very poor but all in all a lovely place to stay. DTRLaw2019-12-31Verified A Merry Christmas Time My family and I just spent 7 nights at Sunset Villa. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa. While we enjoyed our stay, there a few things that we thought would be worth sharing for the benefit of other travelers. When we booked this stay, we decided we wanted to feel like we were in Kenya rather than with tourist at a beachfront resort. Sunset Villa is located about 1/2 mile (15 minutes) from the public access to Galu Beach. There are several beachfront resorts on the main road that offer day passes for access to lounge chairs, pool and restaurant daily. Some are free and costs up to $25/person with a food credit. We did day passes at Diani Reef and Lantana Galu Beach during our stay. It would be helpful if Sunset Villa compiled a list of this information for guest. Our accommodations were not luxury by US standards however they were fine and felt like Africa. The water pressure in showers were low, the grout in bathroom was black, the AC took a while to cool down the room, the power went out and WiFi was spotty. None of these inconveniences were a problem for us because we were in Kenya and anticipated such things. The beds were fine. The bathroom and kitchen can use upgrading. There was no safe in the room to lock up valuables but one was in the main office that was offered for use if we chose. We had no plans of cooking so the kitchen was no issue for us. The unit was kept clean daily by a hardworking sweet lady named Judy. Daily breakfast consisting of fresh fruit, juices, and eggs your way, potatoes, beans, African foods (by request)’etc, The resort chef John was like having a personal chef. We ordered off the menu our first night but after 2 nights he tailored dinner to us based on our eating habits. I had the best grilled lobster there. He also made me a delicious whole fish. My family loved the Fresh snapper he made them one night. They also love chapati (a flat bread), samosas and chicken briyani he made. There was a bbq spread for Christmas including beef, chicken fish, potatoes, salad, and more. The bar on site is independently run and full service. It is only so bring cash! The grounds are well maintained. We never used the pool but did see others enjoying it. There is no gymnasium onsite so plan ahead if you are a daily exerciser. Running on a dirt road in the heat may not be an option. Neema who manages the resort was very helpful. It is best to email her sunstdianivilla@gmail.com. She arranged transport to and from the resort. We flew into Mombasa airport which is about 1.5 hour from Diani Beach. There is a short ferry trip across to Likoni which is about 20 minutes from Diani. Due to construction our transfer took almost 3 hours on arrival but was easy on return. We inquired about tours and met with a tour operator named Akon that Neema referred. He took us on a full day tour which included seeing dolphins, visiting an island, snorkeling, slave museum, reptiles, and the border of Tanzania. It would be helpful if the resort maintained a list of things to see and do in area. We had a Merry time in Diani Beach! We made new friends.Tripadvisor rating score: 4.8 of 5, based on 58 reviews
